Childhood is a foundational time in life, and positive adult influences play a vital role in strong, healthy development during this stage. There are inevitable challenges that come with growing up, but many of the kids that we serve have added obstacles; most live in poverty or low-income homes, and more than 80% don't have a family history of higher education.

To assist in overcoming these barriers, College Mentors for Kids pairs college students like myself with a little buddy. We serve as positive role models who help them navigate new opportunities and foster empowering visions for their futures.

I am thrilled to participate in this transformational program for another year, not only because I get to serve as an Engagement Manager, but also because I get to learn alongside the little buddies as we engage in activities centered on careers, culture, diversity, and community service. I look forward to deepening my own understanding of these concepts, and sharing this growth with the buddies.
