Hi Friends and Family!

I really enjoyed my first semester at Butler! I am thankful for the clubs I've joined and the new friends I've met! One the most impactful clubs I've joined is called College Mentors for Kids. I joined College Mentors for Kids to get involved with my new college community, built new relationships and make a difference in my little buddy's life! I have been paired with a 4th grade boy named Armani, who attends a local Indianapolis public school. Even though we are virtual this year, we do fun activities on Zoom. These activities help us get to know each other and learn more about careers, culture and diversity, and community service too!

Research shows that kids with mentors view themselves and their future more positively than those without mentors. Not only do they view themselves in a more confident light, but they also achieve more positive outcomes in school, the workplace, and their communities. We all know that growing up is challenging, but with a mentor, it’s a little easier. My little buddy helps me grow as a person too. This program helps me to give back to my community, and I'm learning important leadership skills also!

College Mentors for Kids connects kids to college students through weekly on-campus activities that inspire growth, confidence, and brighter futures. During a normal year, little buddies would be bussed to campus after school for various activities with other friends and mentors. I am so glad we can still meet with our buddies even though we are virtual this year.
