Did you know that congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect? 1 out of 100 babies are born with a Congenital Heart Defect.

Briar is our 1 in a 100. 

Briar was diagnosed with Pulmonary Vein Stenosis (PVS) and a possible Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) at 3 days old thanks to a nurse who heard her murmur right after delivery and a pediatrician who advocated for an Echo to be done before we were discharged. In the 4 months since her birth, Briar has had 3 more Echos and will have her fifth Echo in May. Unfortunately, her last showed that her mild PVS had worsened slightly, which did change her diagnosis to moderate PVS. We are so thankful that her wonderful Heart Center care team is still saying there isn't a need for intervention at this time, but we also are aware that that could always change in the future. 

Whatever the future holds for our brave, strong, determined, and fierce baby girl, she will always be showered with love and support from her parents, big sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
