As a board member of the Arizona Burn Foundation, it has been powerful to see how consistently this organization shows up for survivors when it matters most. From the immediate aftermath to the long road of recovery, ABF helps fill gaps that medicine alone cannot address, creating a steady source of support, belonging, and strength. This hike is especially meaningful because of a lifelong passion for hiking and the opportunity to complete the Rim-to-Rim of the Grand Canyon alongside burn survivors, pushing through steep climbs, long miles, heat, and fatigue as a shared reminder that resilience is built one step at a time. That is why this challenge matters. It reflects what burn survivors live every day: showing up, adapting, and continuing forward even when it’s hard.
