Cougar COR Challenge – Frequently Asked Question
What is the Cougar COR Challenge?
The Cougar COR Challenge is Lansing Catholic High School’s spring giving campaign, running from May 11–18, focused on raising essential funds for the COR Fund, our general annual fund. It supports key initiatives that go beyond tuition, including tuition assistance, campus ministry, technology upgrades, service projects, facility improvements, and the Cougar Commons outdoor classroom.
What does “COR” mean?
“Cor” is the Latin word for heart. The COR Fund reflects our belief that students are the heart of our school, and this fund supports everything that helps them grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially.
How do I make a gift?
Click the “Donate Now” button or the “Give Categories” menu option and select your area of interest from the list of designations.
Where does the money go?
The COR Fund supports:
-
Tuition assistance (our top priority!)
-
Campus ministry & service projects
-
Cougar Commons – our new outdoor learning space
-
Technology advancements
-
Facility improvements
-
And more—anything that enhances the student experience beyond what tuition covers.
How much tuition assistance does LCHS provide?
In the last school year, nearly 40% of students received some form of tuition assistance, totaling $878,071 in support. Your gift makes it possible for more students to access a Catholic education, regardless of financial circumstances.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes! Lansing Catholic High School is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Can I choose where my gift goes?
Yes. While we encourage gifts to the COR Fund to support the school’s most pressing needs, our giving form includes an “Other Fund” option where you can designate your gift to a specific program or initiative.
What is the “Other Fund” option?
This option allows you to give to designated funds outside the COR Fund, such as the Athletic Excellence Fund or specific departments (e.g., Fine Arts, Campus Ministry, etc.). If you choose this, please specify in the notes section.

What is a Challenge Ambassador?
Ambassadors are parents, alumni, staff, students, and friends who help spread the word about the Cougar COR Challenge through email, social media, and personal outreach. They’re vital to our success!
Can I give in honor or memory of someone?
