So that no one faces cancer alone!
Over the years I have lost many friends and family to cancer. I have also had friends win their battles but one thing we have learned is that it isn't just their battle, they don't have cancer, WE HAVE CANCER.
Most recently this battle has been and is being fought by my father, Uncle Jim (Daddy’s best friend), and my dear bestie, sister-friend, occasional mom, and what ever member of family she chose to be in the moment - Gillie.
In the last three years Gillie faced two different types of cancer. She just got the all clear from the first one when the second one surprised us all. We formed a “Share the Care“ group to help her and her darling wife Carolyn and named it for the golden elven wooden realm from Gillie’s favorite place in the Tolkein universe Lothlórien. We are the protectors of the realm.
Sadly, Gillie recently lost her battle but true to the shining light that she was, she wanted to volunteer at the CRC. She received such support from them and wanted to share it with others. I even made a stop or two there to help me in this battle. So, I felt it was only appropriate that I, the Captain of the Guard stepped up and did what I could to support the CRC. I will be taking my disabled body and walking as far as I can to help raise funds and support those in need. Please help me, become a member of the guard and/or donate. Every little bit helps.
