Fundraising for animals is something that I am passionate about, because I love them with all of my heart. Every single one.....even the naughty ones! I have particpipated in this fundraiser for many years now, and I thought that for this year, I would tell my story through poetry. I hope all of you enjoy it.

     Please join me in raising money for The Central Vermont Humane Society! They are a wonderful organization that saves the lives of many animals, and enriches the lives of the animals as well as the people who welcome them into their families. Thank you CVHS!

WHY I LOVE DOGS

Ever since I could play pretend,

I wanted every dog to be my friend.

I could hear their silent voices calling,

And we could have a conversation without talking.

Being with them is so simple and new,

If you just unleash the animal inside of you.

Most people think of animals,

As something other than ourselves,

But I embrace the animal inside me,

It's down deep, like the roots of a tree.

Dogs bring out a special part of me,

That's primal and free;

A pure relic from when the earth began,

And the only part of me unstained by the delusions of man.

Like little buddhas, they live in the now,

And by example, they show us how,

To forgive and to forget,

And how to live and love without regret.

Because for them, yesterday is a distant drum,

And tomorrow may never come.

They teach us how to live without shame,

How to judge based on character, and how not to be vain.

Indeed, their sweet souls are worthy of any steeple,

And that's why I respect dogs much more than people.
