Right now, it's 2 days before my 49th birthday. I know 50 is usually the big milestone for most, but 49 feels like a big deal because it's now been 20 years since I survived cancer. I had an aggressive, late stage, rare form of breast cancer and was given less than 30% chance to make it five more years. Looking back on the whole journey, safe at this distance, I can finally admit how terrifying it was. I'm surprised when I see photos of me from then- no hair, no eyebrows, pale. I remember feeling just depleted all the time. 

I can tell you exactly what got me through that terrifying year and a half of treatment, and the following 3 and a half years of thinking every headache could be a brain tumor, aches could be cancer in my bones,  getting scans, MRI's and ultrasounds for any and every symptom. It was my community of friends, family, and friends that became family. The people who would come over and read while I slept so I wasn't alone, took me to chemo, laughed with me when I looked like Marge Simpson because I only had 3 eyelashes...Community got me through. 

So I'm asking for donations for Camp One Step by Children's Oncology Services to help kids with cancer and their families go to fun, supportive camps where they can meet others and build community. On average, it costs $1,500 to send a kiddo with cancer to camp where there are medical professionals on-site to care for their unique needs. My goal is to raise enough to sponsor one camper for a session of camp.

Please help me thank the universe for still being here, and give others a community so they can get through their dark time. Any amount helps - thank you for considering!
