Molly Neary

On December 23, 2020, Molly underwent a spinal fusion surgery in her lower lumbar due to a high-grade condition known as Spondylolisthesis.  Due to the surgery lasting longer than expected, Molly remained at Nemours/AI duPont Hospital for Children in DE over Christmas.  While there, our family saw, firsthand, the wonderful work of Child Life Services.  Thanks to Child Life Services, Molly’s hospital room was decorated with a small Christmas tree and lights for the window.  Throughout her stay, Child Life specialists would visit daily with gifts for Molly.  Leading up to her surgery, Child Life specialists spoke with Molly about all the pre-surgery procedures in an easy to understand, calm manner so we understood what to expect all along the way.

Having gone through this experience, we are keenly aware of how fortunate we are to have our health, the love and support of family and friends.  We witnessed the struggle that many families face when their children are hospitalized.  We would like to give back to Child Life Services for the care and attention given to Molly, and to the many children who will be spending their holidays in the hospital this year.  Last year, we raised over $1,400 for Child Life Services and collected hundreds of toys.  This year, we are collecting toys at TEMS and looking to raise even more funds to make this holiday season the very best.
