Rena is passionate about building community and creating positive change through movement, connection, and compassion. As a dedicated supporter of Sparrow Clubs, Rena returns for her second year with her passion for this remarkable organization, empowering students to help kids in medical need. Rena is more than honored to bring people together for this special dance fundraiser. Rena serves the community as a Birth/Postpartum Doula and Childbirth Educator, supporting families through some of life’s most tender and transformative moments. In Rena’s free time, you can find her exploring the beauty of Bend’s playground, spending time with her beloved 16-year-old twins and enjoying special moments with her friends and family. Combining a love of dance with a dedication to service, Rena believes that every step on the dance floor is an opportunity to inspire generosity and strengthen community. Shannon Abero Guerrero grew up in Northern CA and has been dancing for over 30 years She was inspired by music videos on MTV in the 80’s and loved emulating moves from Janet Jackson to Paula Abdul and more! Shannon didn’t receive formal training until Highschool, where she was on the Cheer, Drill and the Dance Teams. Her older brother, Brian, soon discovered Hip-hop and introduced her younger sister to a class - - the rest is History. After receiving her BA in Psychology at Cal State University of Long Beach, Shannon worked for an AIDS intervention organization for a year, while still dancing on the side. Her love and passion for dance soon became her livelihood after booking a dance agent in Los Angeles. Some of her credentials include: House of Blues, Nike, Memoirs of a Geisha, and The Ellen Show. She has toured with Asian singers and has taught internationally as well. After dancing professionally for a few years in Southern California, Shannon became a dance instructor in Santa Barbara California and currently teaches all across Central Oregon (at The Dance Connection, Sisters Dance Academy & Bend Parks & Rec) sharing her love of dance with all her students! This is her fifth year participating in a Sparrow Clubs fundraiser and she is beyond excited to once again be one of the Pro Hip-hop team coaches! She hopes to raise awareness of the amazing work that Sparrow Clubs of Central Oregon does for our youth!
