Kyla is a passionate and involved young leader in the Central Oregon Community. She graduated from Bend High this June with her International Baccalaureate diploma and left a positive mark on her Bend High peers and faculty. During high school she was captain of the varsity tennis team, 4-year leader of the cross-cultural club, International Competitor and Vice President of the DECA business program, and was one of 14 BSH Senior pageant contestants who dedicated months to support Sparrow Saylor and her family. Beyond school, she has traveled internationally and uplifted girls through 13 years of Girl Scouts. She is currently a Green Jobs intern for The Environmental Center and Oregon Wild, always seeking ways to support local environmental efforts. Her love of connecting with others, creating positive change, and supporting community causes well suits the mission of Sparrow Clubs. She was first introduced to the program in 2018 when her cousin Tyrus was a Sparrow at Highland Elementary. Since 2019 she’s loved supporting her Pro Mom Queen Mama Shan at the Dancing with the Stars performances and even got to be a part of the show virtually during COVID! She will be attending U of O for Environmental Studies in 2026 and is taking a gap year to focus on her creative hobbies, small businesses, family, service and worldly exploration.

Shannon Abero Guerrero grew up in Northern CA and has been dancing for over 30 years She was inspired by music videos on MTV in the 80’s and loved emulating moves from Janet Jackson to Paula Abdul and more! Shannon didn’t receive formal training until Highschool, where she was on the Cheer, Drill and the Dance Teams. Her older brother, Brian, soon discovered Hip-hop and introduced her younger sister to a class - - the rest is History. After receiving her BA in Psychology at Cal State University of Long Beach, Shannon worked for an AIDS intervention organization for a year, while still dancing on the side. Her love and passion for dance soon became her livelihood after booking a dance agent in Los Angeles. Some of her credentials include: House of Blues, Nike, Memoirs of a Geisha, and The Ellen Show. She has toured with Asian singers and has taught internationally as well. After dancing professionally for a few years in Southern California, Shannon became a dance instructor in Santa Barbara California and currently teaches all across Central Oregon (at The Dance Connection, Sisters Dance Academy & Bend Parks & Rec) sharing her love of dance with all her students! This is her fifth year participating in a Sparrow Clubs fundraiser and she is beyond excited to once again be one of the Pro Hip-hop team coaches! She hopes to raise awareness of the amazing work that Sparrow Clubs of Central Oregon does for our youth!
