For years, I have run/walked for events connected to HIV/AIDS in a shirt adorned with names. People have shared with me stories of people in their lives who were impacted by the disease. Some have passed away from it, some are survivors, some were/are caregivers, and some were/ware activists. (And yes, the Venn diagram is complex!) I run/walk with their names on my shirt and their stories in their heart, and I share their stories and memories whenever I can. If you have a name and a story of someone (or of yourself), please share it with me, and I will include them on my shirt and in my heart during my 2024 Walk for Health Equity!

Historically, the LGBTQ+ community has faced disproportionate health care challenges, a reality that persists today. By walking together on October 26, we honor those we’ve lost and strive for a future where health care is accessible to everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or socioeconomic status.
Health equity means all people have the same access to health care, no matter their background or current circumstance. At DAP Health, everyone is welcome, with no one ever turned away due to their inability to pay.
