Snow City Arts has been providing arts-learning opportunities for 1,300 students annually on site in pediatric hospitals across Chicago since 1998.

Being in the hospital can be a frightening and isolating time for a young person, particularly with additional pandemic restrictions. Our programs empower and change the lives of our students through the arts. We daily invite patients to become students, and witness students become poets, painters, dancers, or filmmakers as our Teaching Artists transform hospital rooms into creative spaces while conducting one-on-one lessons with students live or remotely through our virtual options.

Home Is Where the Art Is

Please join us for a special evening of sharing a piece of artwork from your home with a casual discussion of what it means to you. A painting, poem, drawing, photograph, book, song—whatever it is that evokes a special meaning to you. You don’t need to be the artist to present a piece of art!

“Home is where the art is” will be facilitated by a Snow City Arts Teaching Artist as they showcase and share their arts education practices and student-led art projects. Snow City Arts has been providing arts-learning opportunities for 1,300 students annually in pediatric hospitals across Chicago since 1998.

Join David Ray and Sindhu Kutty on November 15, from 6:00PM-7:00PM CT for a Zoom gathering of art enthusiasts for a virtual show and tell in support of Snow City Arts.

How It Works

The evening starts with a display of a student showcase by a Snow City Teaching Artist.

Following the student showcase, attendees will have the opportunity to share their special piece of artwork with a short discussion about its personal meaning.

Whether you choose to showcase your art, participate in the discussion, or sit back and listen, you will leave inspired by this robust, eclectic, and informative conversation.

How You Can Help

  • Register for the event (you will receive a zoom link 1-2 days prior to the event)

  • Submit a photo of the artwork you wish to highlight by November 1 (don’t worry, you can always change your mind about showcasing it) by emailing to carrie@snowcityarts.org texting to 312-248-2876

  • Make a donation to Snow City Arts so children in pediatric hospitals can continue to explore myriad ways to express their creativity through the power of art

  • Add to your art collection by purchasing a piece of student artwork (button to the right)
