While dealing with the uncertainly of illness or injury, parents of critically ill and injured children are often reluctant to leave the hospital. Ronald McDonald House Charities® Okahoma City provides a home-away-from-home for families who have a sick or injured child receiving medical care in the Oklahoma City area at NO COST to the family.

The Ronald McDonald House® at Oklahoma Children's Hospital provides 40 private rooms for families and is just steps away from the hospital. The House is connected by a skywalk to Oklahoma Children’s Hospital and has laundray facilities, a large kitchen, play area, living areas, and a salon.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room® is located on the 6th Floor of Oklahoma Children’s Hospital at The OU Medical Center. It is a special place where families who live in the local area, as well as families who have traveled long distances and may be staying at the Ronald McDonald House, can rest while staying close to their hospitalized child.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room offers a comfortable home-like setting including a living room area with a television, a kitchen stocked with snacks, showers and a laundry facility. The Ronald McDonald Family Room also has a quiet room for conversation and phone calls in addition to computers to stay in touch with families, friends and workplace responsibilities.

All of these amenities are provided at NO COST to the family.

Ronald McDonald House Charities® Oklahoma City holds a special place in heart. Not only does it provide a home-away-from-home for sick and injured children, but it also is special to our family. My mom was one of the first volunteers for the Ronald McDonald House®. I volunteered for the RMHC-OKC Young Professionals group and now full circle, I work for RMHC-OKC. This organization makes a difference in so many lives.

When Camden was in the hospital for months getting treatment for his cancer, my sister lived at the hospital. The Ronald McDonald House Family Room® wasn't open yet. Every weekend, my sister would pack up her suitcase with all her dirty laundry and go home to spend the weekend with Casey. She has to move a mini fridge in Camden's room to be able to microwave a meal. She had to shower in Camden's room.

Because of RMHC-OKC there is a Family Room where families can do laundry, take showers and warm up a meal. Because of the House, sibilings don't have to go days without seeing each other. Parents don't have to divide and conquer. Families are able to stay together and focus on what's important, their sick or injured child.
