DeafBlind Retreat - Help me raise $2500!

Hello Friends / Family / Co-workers!

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to an AMAZING nonprofit organization in the Seattle area called Lighthouse for the Blind.  Lighthouse provides employment, support, and training opportunities for people who are blind, DeafBlind, and blind with other disabilities.  I volunteer my time as a Foundation Board member and I've been lucky enough to participate in several employee activities, tours, educational opportunities and meetings in order to understand and better serve this community.  It was during a site tour of the Lighthouse manufacturing operations in Seattle that I got to personally witness the interactions of a DeafBlind employee and an interpreter performing a quality function for aerospace parts.  I was immediately amazed, humbled and frankly in awe of the partnership, skill and sheer perseverance of the human spirit and human connection in that simple, limited setting.  Please read on about the DeafBlind retreat which is a phenomenal national event sponsored by the Lighthouse for the DeafBlind community.  And please take a few minutes to check out the Lighthouse for the Blind webpage (The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. (lhblind.org)) and serious consider helping me reach a personal goal of raising $2500 to send an individual to the DeafBlind Retreat.  If you’d like to help me reach my goal, you can visit my page and make a donation.

You can also leave a message / call / text me (334-415-0564) me about why you decided to donate or if you have any questions – I’d love to hear from you!

The DeafBlind Retreat creates opportunities for networking, connection, leadership and autonomy through a variety of recreational and educational activities in a fully accessible environment.  After three long years, the Lighthouse is bringing back the DeafBlind Retreat. Because of the pandemic, and the close, interpersonal nature of communicating as people who are DeafBlind, the Lighthouse was unable to hold the DeafBlind Retreat. Throughout this time, the Lighthouse heard regularly from DeafBlind individuals across the country about how much they missed the retreat – and how the relationships that they form and develop during that week are absolutely critical to their health and connection throughout the year.

Please join me in showing your support and appreciation for this impactful and necessary experience that will be so beneficial to the DeafBlind community.

With much gratitude,

Chelsea
