I was first introduced to the Lighthouse for the Blind when I was working as a caregiver in Renton, WA. Some of my clients were DeafBlind and worked at the Lighthouse. I had the opportunity to tour the Lighthouse and see what a great place it is. It's such a unique place designed to be fully accessible to blind individuals. Ultimately, I was so impressed by the Lighthouse and its dedication to its mission, I decided to become a member of the Foundation Board.
One of the many programs that the Lighthouse offers is the DeafBlind Retreat in Seabeck, WA. This retreat is specifically set up to be accessible for DeafBlind individuals and includes a host of activities, including recreational opportunities, technology demonstrations, various presentations, and so much more.
The DeafBlind Retreat is primarily funded by community support. For this reason, I am trying to help fundraise for the retreat! If we can reach the goal of $2,500, we will have covered the costs for one camper to attend this fantastic and uniquely accessible experience.
