Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page for this year's Dempsey Challenge!

The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.

The Dempsey Center is very personal to my family. My dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer about 2 years ago.  This was a complete shock to our family. How could my healthy superhero dad get this scary diagnosis??? After some time to process the information, we quickly turned to the Dempsey Center to help navigate the upcoming journey. For anyone who knows my dad knows that he loves people and loves staying active.  The Dempsey Center provided so many options for my dad to fulfill both of those very important things while he was going through his treatment.  He quickly became a regular at Yoga & Tai Chi, took advantage of nutrition classes, and much more! During one of the hardest times of our lives the Dempsey Center provided resources that made the treatment journey for our family, and most importantly my dad, much more manageable. I am happy to report that while my dad will never have the ability to say he is "cancer free" he is doing very well and filling his days with riding his bike, going to Yoga at the Dempsey Center, playing his trumpet in the Maine Pops Concert Band, or just hanging with family. A big part of why he is where he is today is because the amazing services provided by the Dempsey Center that were no cost to us.
