The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.

Good Evening, friends, family, and community! Here I am once again starting to fundraise for the 2025, 25 mile Dempsey Challenge that will take place Saturday September 20th, 2025. 

       Greetings everyone! My name is Braydan Benton, and this is my story. Just days after Christmas of 2022, my grandmother, (Kathi Sue Benton,) sadly passed away of Bladder cancer. This passing took a deep toll on my family, as words can’t even describe how big of a impact she had made on my family's life, and many others. Today I find myself always trying to honor my grandmother in many ways. Recently I worked on a project researching The American Disability Act, and performing it to honor my grandmother as she was a person with disabilities. Another way I love to honor my grandma is through the Dempsey Challenge, and that’s where we are today. The past two years I have been determined to honor my grandma by doing the 25 mile Dempsey Challenge, and here I am once again more determined than ever to raise the money I need, which is 300 dollars. I am so grateful for those who have been by my side helping me make it to the finish line every year honoring my grandma, and making her proud. I hope once again I will be blessed by all of you to make it to the finish line!
