Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page for this year's Dempsey Challenge!

Hardly a day goes by that someone I know isn't impacted by cancer. Sometimes it is someone I personally know that hears those three life-altering words, "you have cancer" and sometimes is it someone’s spouse, sibling, parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, or child. The Dempsey Center is there to support anyone impacted by cancer, and that's one reason why I ride in the Dempsey Challenge.

The other reason is also personal, and is what brought me to this event for the first time in 2013. My friend Brian LaFrance, a Lewiston native, was in a battle with leukemia and using the services of the Dempsey Center. That March, I had knee surgery after a ski crash and my rehab goal was to ride 50 miles in the Dempsey Challenge in support of my friend Brian. As it turned out, Brian lost his battle a few months before my first Dempsey Challenge and I’ve been riding for the Dempsey Center in his honor every year since. 

The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.
