Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page for this year's Dempsey Challenge!

The Dempsey Challenge is the premier fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.

Prostate cancer is no stranger to my family.  My father passed away from it, and two of my brothers have been treated for it. In 2023, I was diagnosed with a recurrence of my Prostate cancer after having a radical prostatectomy in 2019. To my surprise, my PSA became detectable 4 years after the surgery during a routine follow-up. At the time, I wasn’t looking back, and I really thought I had it beat. This recurrence and the treatment rocked my world like nothing I had previously experienced. Learning that my cancer was more aggressive than previously thought and dealing with side effects from the therapy challenged my physical and emotional strength, and has reshaped what "Normal" now looks like. I am grateful that I can now see the blessing in it all and how this has shaped my life, creating opportunities to Live Life more fully.

I am grateful for the support and care I received from the Demsey Center. They provided a safe space to receive therapies, such as Massages, Acupuncture, Reiki, Yoga, Tai Chi, and Support Groups, as well as a wealth of information to support me and my family. It has been the connections with folks that have been so important and life-giving, knowing that I was not alone, and wonderful things happen when we share our journeys. They have helped so much in my healing process and My Life After Cancer.
