Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page for this year's Dempsey Challenge!
Last August I got diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Since then I had a surgery (September 2024), went through 2 courses of chemotherapy (November 2024 - March 2025), have completed 33 sessions of radiation treatment (April 2025 - June 2025), and had a second, preventative surgery (June 2025). My journey to remission continues, as I am working with my oncologistto find an appropriate long-term hormone treatment to pit me in remission, and it's a long road, but support of my family and friends makes it easier. Thank you all, I really appreciate you!
Not everyone is as blessed as me to have a crowd cheering them on during their journey, but thankfully, those who don't can find support at Dempsey Center. This center offers quality-of-life services and community support to cancer patients free of charge. There is massage and acupuncture, fitness and yoga classes, different workshops, support groups, even a couple therapy dogs and a small library. It's a wonderful place! As a patient myself I qualify as well, so I got to experience oncological massage so far which was excellent.
This year I registered for the Survivor's 5K Walk at the Dempsey Challenge, and I am raising money as part of my pledge, My goal is $300, and everything I raise will go directly to our Dempsey Center.
The Dempsey Challenge is an annual run/walk and cycling event taking place Saturday, September 20th, 2025 in Lewiston, Maine. This year’s Dempsey Challenge marks 17 years of making life better for people impacted by cancer.
Please consider a donation to help the Dempsey Center provide comfort, connection, compassion, and choice to cancer patients, their loved ones, care partners, and survivors—all at no cost. You are also welcome to come to Lewiston on the Challenge Day, September 20th, 2025, and cheer me on as I walk.
Thank you!
