Hi friends,
Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page for this year's Dempsey Challenge! Some of you might know that in 2019 I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, cancer of the blood plasma, which is treatable but not curable. In 2024 after several years of chemotherapy I became eligible for a Car-T treatment where my T-cells were sent off to be genetically altered to recognize my cancer then infused back into my body. The treatment which at times was rough required me to stay in Boston for 35 days. Now several months later, the T-cells are working hard and my bloodwork shows that currently I am cancer free! I have no idea how long this will last but I feel it's time to give back and you can help!
The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit in Maine founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.
Of course there is an athletic aspect to this too. On Sept. 20th I will be riding my bicycle 25 miles and if I'm lucky, I'll be right next to Patrick Dempsey. I doubt he'll keep up with me. :)
With a donation made to my page, you can help support thousands of cancer patients, survivors, care partners, and their loved ones. Gifts of any amount will provide no-cost support for years to come.
Thank you for your support!
