Hello! This is my 3rd year doing the Dempsey Challenge. However this year I am taking a challenge of my own. Having had 2 strokes now in the past five years, I have had many challenges to overcome. When my boss (who walked this with me last year) challenged me to actually run the 5K, I became alarmed. You want me to do what? I hadn't really run since relearning how to walk in 2020. I was uncertain until February 2025. After my 2nd stroke (not nearly as bad as the 1st), a fire was lit under me to fight back. A change of diet, more excercise, the loss of 50 lbs and still going, I said let's do it. I bought running shoes and found myself doing a combination of walking/running at 4:15 in the morning in June to get myself trained up. I told a few friends and some want to join me. So if you can't run with us, perhaps you could support the cause with a donation on our behalf.
