Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page for this year's Dempsey Challenge!

The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.

In August of 2022, I learned first hand just how special the Dempsey Center is and the powerful impact of their services.  My husband, Lew Jensen, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Gastric Cancer.  Immediately it was like drinking from a fire hose. I remember our first visit to the Dempsey Center  - the calm and peacefulness we felt as the elevator doors opened to the fourth floor.  The staff greeted us with a warm welcome and gently guided us through our orientation, allowing us to take in all that the center could offer.  Lew was immediately drawn to Amanda’s Garden.  His dad was an avid gardener and I think Lew took solace in this place that allowed him to “just be”.  This is only a glimpse into the services the center has to offer.
