Inspiration . . . . .

Dempsey Challenge

Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page for this year's Dempsey Challenge - 2025!

The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.

This is my 5th year for the event and I continue to be inspired.  Life has inspired me through music, art, work, family, and friends.  And, nothing has been more inspiring than the human condition, with all it's elements of meaning and purpose, emotions and relationships, struggles and resilience, consciousness and awareness,  and especially life and death. We are all together here for this shared experience.

In my life and career I have witnessed cancer's impact on patients, co-workers, friends, and family.   From the diagnoses to treatments onto survival or death, cancer brings its challenges.  It brings pain, despair, loss, and death. Yet, it also delivers perspective, survival, growth, and inspiration; a true example of our human condition.  I couldn't fathom a guess as to how many individuals with cancer I have known, diagnosed, or supported.   I can recall some of the recent, the bravest, the fighters, the survivors and, yes, the perished.

GREGORY (DAD), BERNIE B, NONNY, MEEMA, JOHN, JOHNNY, KITTY KAT, AUNTIE PAT, MICHELLE, ANN, KATE, CHARLIE, AMY F., HILDA W., LORRAINE G., and so many.

.All are and have been an inspiration.  Their examples, their lives, stand in my mind as a testament to life's precious gifts.  I hope you can take some precious inspiration from these words and inspire others in life's journey.

If I could wish for my life to be perfect, I would have to decline, for life would no longer teach me anything.  - Allison Jones

What would life be like if we had no courage to attempt anything. - Van Gogh

Not only so, for we also celebrate our afflictions.  Because we know our afflictions create endurance and endurance creates strength of character.  And strong character; hope.  Hope does not despair.  -Romans 5: 1-4

With a donation made to my page, you can help support thousands of cancer patients, survivors, care partners, and their loved ones. Gifts of any amount will provide no-cost support for years to come.

Thank you so much for your support!
