"Dude, I service society by rocking, OK? I'm out there on the front lines liberating people with my music!" -Dewey Finn, "School of Rock".
I'm Brian Gagnon, team captain for Team Down with Disease, and I'm raising money for the Dempsey Center, a Maine-based nonprofit organization with locations in Lewiston and South Portland, as well as a virtual Center called Dempsey Connects which provides cancer programs and services for people beyond the borders of Maine. I first got involved with the Dempsey Challenge when Camp of Rock (a two week rock music camp I run for kids ages 7-17) was asked to perform there. I was so moved by the experience and the community atmosphere from that stage that afterwards, I walked up to the YMCA Team Captain, asked if I could join their team, registered, and rode the 50-mile route the next day. I'm proud to say that since then, not only has Camp of Rock played that stage every year, but I've ridden either 50, 65, 70, or 100 miles every year, too.
The Dempsey Center makes life better for people managing the impact of cancer by easing the side effects of cancer through complementary therapies, counseling and other support services for individuals and families.
Please support me in my fundraising efforts by making a donation. Any amount you can give makes a difference! I hope to see you at the next Camp of Rock show, where you can buy a raffle ticket or make a donation there!
Every dollar of your donation directly benefits cancer patients, survivors and their families.
Thank you for your support!
