The Dempsey Center is near and dear to my heart. If you're reading this, you most likely know that I was blindsided with a breast cancer diagnosis in 2024. I underwent a bilateral mastectomy followed by chemotherapy, reconstruction, and started five to ten year hormone therapy. My final surgery was this spring 2025. There have been lots of bumps along the way and I live with some pretty uncomfortable side-effects, but finally feeling stronger this summer. I'm looking forward to riding to raise money for the Dempsey Center again this year. 

Last year, a month out of chemo was my first year participating in the Dempsey Center Challenge. Riding my bike and staying active through treatment was one of the biggest factors in keeping me going through it all. It felt like a full circle moment to be able to ride my first long ride since ending chemo and knowing it was helping with the Dempsey Center's mission to make life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.
