In March of this year, I had the privledge of joining my sister outlaw, Kathy Emery, at the Dempsey Center where she was fitted for a wig after losing her hair to cancer treatment. She continues to fight ALK lung cancer with brain metastasis with strength, courage, and humor all while sporting her beautiful wig.

The wig women at the Dempsey Center are angels on earth and were so loving as they fit Kathy for the wig and helped her find the perfect look for her. Kathy has also visited the Dempsey Center for massages, group activities, and emotional support. This has all been free of charge because of people like you who donate to the Dempsey Challenge.

The Dempsey Challenge is an annual run/walk and cycling event taking place Saturday, September 20th in Lewiston, Maine. This year’s Dempsey Challenge marks 17 years of making life better for people impacted by cancer. Please consider a donation to help the Dempsey Center provide comfort, connection, compassion, and choice to cancer patients, their loved ones, care partners, and survivors—all at no cost. 

I'll be walking in honor of Kathy and in memory of my friend, Neila Smith, who also participated in services provided by the Dempsey Center and sadly was taken from us earlier this year.
