On September 20th, I will be participating in this year's Dempsey Challenge, my 2nd time participating.
Founded by actor Patrick Dempsey ("McDreamy") after watching his mom's journey with cancer, he wanted to make a space where those impacted by cancer could find relief, comfort, and resources. The Dempsey Center opened its doors in 2008 and has provided care and support to so many cancer patients and their families in the years since. The impact has been profound.
Doing my part to combat cancer is an incredibly important and personal cause. I lost my mom to cancer when I was just 14 years old - she was only 43. Her courageous 6-year battle and the profound impact of growing up essentially without her have shaped who I am today.
Last year, the collective power of WEX participants raised over $81,000. We (obviously) want to exceed that this year.
There's also a little friendly competition (with a side of smack-talk) between Team Annie (Risk & Compliance & GSO) and Team Jagtar (Finance) to spice it up a little more.
