The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost. The Dempsey Center and its mission were near and dear to my sister Lisa's heart. She and her dear friend, Renee, started running this race together, and it became even more important to her when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Lisa had the best support in her close friends, neighbors and family and wanted others battling cancer to have the same. The Women of Steal continue to participate in the Demspey Challenge in our Lisa's memory.
