Every month, hundreds of families find their way to our basement in search of much needed groceries, clothing and help covering overdue rent and utilities. This is evidence that the need for DESC’s services continues to grow as families struggle with chronic poverty.
With the effects of COVID-19, these stories are becoming more common. Since reopening in May, more than 35 percent of our families are first-time visitors.
Thankfully, our superheroes continue to champion the cause to meet these needs. Captain Underwear, Commander Current, Princess Pantaloons and Queen Appétit proudly carry the banner for those in need. Together, they represent all our services and form an unbeatable team.

KEVIN MAHONEY
Kevin Mahoney is an artist, songwriter, and educator living and working in St. Augustine, Florida. He makes conceptually-driven work utilizing the mediums of photography, video, poetry, and performance to highlight often overlooked elements of everyday life. He selects images, actions, and objects and then uses text, written or spoken, to draw out the narrative or poetic value of this humdrum material. Kevin recorded Fondly* at Long Jump Records for a few months over the Summer before releasing the 4 song EP on 10/20/2020.
CORY DRISCOLL
Cory Driscoll is a recording artist and producer living in Jacksonville, Florida. He is the principle songwriter behind Tallahassee bands Curious Animals (2008-2012) and Young Adult (2012-2016). He now records under his own name with the first release in 2018, Tropical Depression. Ever-interested in the collaborative experience, he founded Long Jump Records as a way of reaching out to people with a similar strive.
