On October 8, for the first time I will be participating in the Dipsea Hike for Zero Breast Cancer. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 and seeing so many women I know and love also being diagnosed, I feel the need more than ever to do something for this cause.
Zero Breast Cancer helps individuals and communities understand scientific research on environmental risk factors and lifestyle variables that influence breast cancers. We promote disease prevention through targeted communication of evidence-based recommendations that support health and wellness at key stages of life. We envision a world with zero breast cancer.
Your donation to Zero Breast Cancer supports ongoing education and outreach to youth and teens in the Bay Area. These efforts focus on health and wellness messages, support for high school breast cancer clubs and development of peer-to-peer initiatives to raise awareness of ways to reduce breast cancer risk. An important outcome will be to inspire and engage the next generation of potential scientists, public health professionals, health educators, doctors, nurses and community advocates to act to reduce the environmental risks of breast cancer or prevent the disease altogether.
I would love you to join my team (Team Gratitude) on this wonderful hike. You can help me further by sharing a link to my fundraising page on your Facebook and Twitter! Or, even better, send an e-mail to your friends who might be interested in contributing and include a link to this fundraising page!
Thanks so much for your generosity! Your help and support will help prevent breast cancer in the next generation!
