Can you help ?
I am part of a Boy Scouts of America Venture Crew that has signed up to Run a 10K during the Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World.
BSA Venture Crews are Scouting units focused on High Adventure and Fun while promoting Community Service and Leadership.
Venturing is a youth-led program all about building adventures with your friends. Choose to do activities that matter to you and develop essential skills like leadership, event-planning, organization, communication, and responsibility while having a blast!
This group of young people is amazing. This event was decided on by THEM – the adults are just here to make sure they are safe and of course pay for churros and Mickey Shaped foods.
We have joined up with the amazing folks at the Doug Flutie Foundation to raise money to help people and families affected by Autism to live life to the fullest (right from their mission statement.) We are incredibly thankful that they let us join as a whole crew. 10 of us will be running and helping to raise funds for this amazing group.
Why this foundation?
We evaluated a few and decided to pursue membership into the Doug Flutie Foundation because we have a few families affected by autism. Our Crew Advisor (Jim Loring) has been profoundly changed by working with scouts on the spectrum. Scouting has helped many youth, that otherwise would not be able to join other social groups, to thrive and succeed while trying things outside of their comfort zone.
Every one of us on this team has a story about a scout on the spectrum and the challenges and success they endure.
Please consider helping us Raise these funds.
