2024 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend   ○   2 Da Max & Sophia

Maximus Castillo

January 3, 2024 8:00am - January 7, 2024 6:00pm

Hello family and friends!! I'm excited to announce, My grandparent's Rosa Maria & Antonio Flores and I are participating in Rundisney Walt Disney World 5K marathon weekend

We are so proud to share the news with you guys that we are participating in honor of Maximus Castillo and Sophia Schnur. As most of you know, Maximus and Sophia are on the Autism Spectrum. They were both Diagnosed at the early age of 2 years old. We can not describe to you how our families world shattered when we received both diagnosis. It felt like our world were closing in on us. We have not, nor will not stop fighting Autism.

Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates 1 in 54 children is on the autism spectrum.

The statistics and diagnosis are staggering, BUT early intervention is the key! We are thankful for all the Autism research completed thus far, but we have so much more to learn - and more importantly - learn how to conquer Autism. Maximus & Sophia's  early intervention included; Neurology doctors, Speech therapy, Occupational therapy, ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), Horse back riding therapy, Aquatic therapy, Music therapy, DAN! Doctors (Autism Biomedical Treatments) and our beloved Paula bear, Maximus Autism Service Dog. All of these therapies are pieces of the puzzle that we are putting together.

However, our Autism journey has not always been easy, but with the help and support in our faith with God, family and friends, Maximus & Sophia have been able to conquer many of their goals !

We are just so proud of our Maximus & Sophia.

They both continue to this day, amaze us with their progress and determination to keep moving forward. We know we still have many hurdles ahead of us, but we can accomplish them together as a family.

We are asking if you could please help us by donating to our charity in helping Autism Awareness and by also honoring and celebrating all of Maximus Castillo & Sophia Schnur accomplishments.

Your donation would not only be in support our family Rundisney race, but also support  Doug Flutie Jr. foundation for Autism, an organization that helps millions of individuals diagnosed with Autism. Together we can conquer and solve the Autism puzzle!
