Junior Achievement's mission of financial literacy and career readiness is one that is near and dear to my heart and one that is underserved by existing primary/secondary curricula. Understanding these concepts at an early age prepares the next generation for success and helps them to avoid many common pitfalls encountered by young adults early in their careers. The Bowl-a-Thon provides Junior Achievement most of their budget for the year, so it's our chance to make sure they are equipped with the resources they need.

The Bowl-a-Thon also marks the difficult first anniversary of the loss of our colleague and longtime Bowl-a-Thon participant Patrick Doubleday. It was on our scheduled day to bowl last year that we noted his unexpected absence and learned of his passing. So, we carry on our tradition in his honor and memory.
