As I type this, from the comfort of the home I am told to stay in during this pandemic time, I cannot help but think and pray for those whose homes are filled with fear.  My home is filled with joy, laughter, and I look forward to each morning to start a new day.  I am grateful for I know my home is a place of peace and rest.  I have found the task of entertaining my child at home without parks daunting at first, but never have I had to fear what would happen within my home or fear for my safety for leaving as those who endure a house with physical, represive, and emotional abuse. 

The families that Safe Harbor supports are filled with some of the strongest, most brave individuals.  For even though they were put through unthinkable trama, they chose to rise.  Even though they endured great physical and emotional pain, they chose for it not to put out the mighty fire within them.  They braved trenches to reach a safe haven.

As parents, Derek and I want to nurture Moira in becoming kind of heart, be wise in her choices, be brave enough to stand for herself as well as others, and bold in her faith.  What better way to do this than to support worthy causes.  She may not be able to understand what we are trying to do but by making philanthropy a constant presence in her early life, we hope it will become a lifelong habit.
