Mango's journey started with a breeder caretaker who brought her and her siblings into the world and made her first 6 weeks of life amazing. From Santa Rosa, CA she was flown to Washington D.C. by private charter from a volunteer pilot to reach her puppy raiser. Her puppy raiser was also a volunteer and gave Mango the foundation of 20 commands so she could go off to Professional Training (Puppy College). She was evaluated by her new trainers who felt she would make an awesome hearing dog. She and her sister, Mecham both were identified as potential hearing dogs. They both were flown to the Southwest Region headquarters in Orlando, FL where Mari Johnson trained them. Both dogs graduated from the Hearing Dog Program and were placed with deaf/hard-of-hearing people in the same graduating class! I received Mango in March 2019. Because of this organization's incredible donors, I received Mango FREE OF CHARGE. DogFest is one of the ways this magic happens.
Leading up to DogFest North Central, I am raising money to support the Canine Companions mission. The impact these dogs have on the lives of people with disabilities is incredible.
