It all started two years ago...the incredible moment I was expertly matched with Alicia and we became a facility dog team! Alicia not only makes a positive impact on the patients and families she works with, but everyone she encounters. Alicia teams up with me in my job as a Child Life Specialist to help kids learn about tests and procedures, work toward meeting medical goals, calm their nerves and pain, and bring some fun into the hospital environment. I'm forever grateful to Canine Companions for this skilled and loving pup!
I'm participating in DogFest North Central because Canine Companions not only provides expertly trained facility dogs to professionals in the health care, school, and visitation setting but also service dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities FREE of charge.
Leading up to DogFest North Central, I am raising money to support the Canine Companions mission. The impact these dogs have on the lives of people with disabilities is incredible.
