I'm participating in DogFest North Central because I love pet dogs like our beloved Hazel, and know the indepedence and joy Canine Companions service dogs bring to the clients we serve. I'm an employee of and donor to Canine Companions because I believe in our mission to provide expertly trained service dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities FREE of charge.
Leading up to DogFest North Central, I am raising money to support the Canine Companions mission. Those big, brown eyes gaze at me deeply while her tail sweeps gently back and forth. Our connection is unmistakable and our devotion is unwavering. Without a word, Hazel understands every nuance of my movements and seizes every opportunity to take advantage--a spoon with a little extra peanut butter, a piece of fruit that falls on the floor or a drawer containing her leash opened. She is fiercely loyal and protective, always ready to pounce on the squirrel who dared climb our bird feeder or bark to alert us of the presence of someone approaching our front door. As she gently snores snuggled up beside me, I am certain that she captured my heart.
