I'm participating in DogFest OKC because we have been blessed with a service dog from Canine Companions and we want to share the love! Our son, Max, was matched with service dog, Maureen IV, and she has changed all our lives. Max uses a wheelchair and Maureen does helpful things for him like picking things up and opening doors. She even has a bell that she rings when Max needs help! But more than that, Maureen is a companion. She goes everywhere with Max, giving him love, confidence and even comfort when things get tough. They have shared many great adventures - from Alaska to Key West.  Maureen has always been up for the fun and always uses her impeccable manners.

We are very thankful for Maureen and her nine years of service. We are also very grateful for the people who made this life changing gift possible to us - free of charge. We are hoping to bring the love and independence Maureen has shared with us to others who need the help of a service dog. Through DogFest OKC we are raising funds for these special, life changing dogs. We hope you will consider a donation to Canine Companions, you may do this easily online. DogFest OKC, a celebration of all dogs, will be held October 5, 2025 in Scissortail Park. There will be fun and games for everyone, along with amazing vendors and dog demonstartions. We hope you will bring your pooch and join us in the celebration!
