The yellow lab curled up in the picture above is Kashi. She is the half sister of Navi, one of the puppies I raised for Canine Companions. Kashi was raised by a friend of mine who lives nearby, and we saw her often as she grew up. Kashi recently graduated from Canine Companions Professional Training and was matched with a teacher in an elementary/middle school near Sacramento, CA, working in her classroom with kids who have emotional and behavioral challenges.
The teacher said, "I can’t explain what a difference Kashi has made in my classroom with my students. She was meant to be with us! A student was having a hard time at PE and made a good choice to come back inside the classroom. He went straight to Kashi, and they stayed like this until he felt better. What a gift Kashi is!"
I'm participating in DogFest San Diego because I love dogs and know the joy they bring to our lives each and every day. I also believe in Canine Companions and their mission to provide expertly trained service dogs to adults, children and veterans with disabilities FREE of charge.
Leading up to DogFest San Diego, I am raising money to support the Canine Companions mission. The impact these dogs have on the lives of people with disabilities is incredible. Help me get to my fundraising goal by donating so we can get more of these amazing Canine Companions service dogs into the lives of those who need them. Thank you!
