Hello Friends and Family,

As many of you know, I've become a Canine Companion puppy raiser and have Thaddeus IV as my first puppy.   I received him in December when he was only 8 weeks old, he is now 6 months.   I'm really excited to be part of the Canine Companion family and having a blast being Thaddeus' puppy raiser.  

As a volunteer puppy raiser, we welcome them into our homes to be part of our family for the next 12-18 months.    Our job is to socialize them so that they are comfortable in all typical environments - grocery stores, department stores, work, restaurants, you name it, they go with us .  We also work on about 35 commands that they will learn while in our care to help in preparing them for their professional training.  When they leave the puppy raiser, they go to our Regional Training Center (New York) to receive professional training to become a service dog.   They then get matched with an individual with needs and become a trusted and loved companion.    I'm absolutely in awe of these dogs.

With that, I’m participating in a fundraiser for our area chapter (Capital Chapter of Canine Companions) through this year’s DogFest DC 2024-11th Annual to help raise money for Canine Companion's - a non-profit organization.    Funds raised help place highly trained service dogs with children, adults and veterans with disabilities free of charge.
