You've probably seen the adorably earnest puppies wearing yellow vests out and about training in MIddleburg. Or maybe you know Caroline and Forrest, our hometown Canine Companions graduates, whose dogs wear the blue vests of fully trained service dogs.

MIddleburg has always embraced this amazing organization, with classes currently held at the MIddleburg American Legion Post 295, led by local puppy raiser extraordinaire, Colleen Roberts.. For over 22 years, a group of graduates and volunteer puppy raisers have marched in the Middleburg Christmas Parade (we skipped last year for logistical reasons, but hope to be back!). Puppies have been raised at the Middleburg Montessori, Middleburg Academy and Wakefield School. They have visited the HIll School and many other places in town. Many of your friends and neighbors have raised puppies or donated to Canine Companions, which has been breeding, training and placing service dogs FOR FREE with veterans and people with disabilities. Next year marks the 50th anniversary of this amazing nation-wide non-profit. These dogs are truly professionals.

Please support our team, the Middleburg Labradorables, as we raise money for Canine Companions one and only big fundraiser, DogFest. It is happening this Saturday, October 5, in Reston. Help us get more of these dogs to the people who really need them. Bring your well-trained dogs and join the fun.
