About me!

Tell your donors who you are and why you are running!

Hi! My name is Nancy Morgan and I am running the 127th Boston Marathon for the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation. I am excited to run the Boston Marathon for the Doug Flutie foundation for a few reasons.

My boyfriend (now husband) and I were at the 2013 Boston Marathon and were about two blocks from the finish line when the bombs went off. We were not close enough to see the damage and the injuries, but we were close enough to hear the bombs, see the smoke, and watch the police run towards the bombs as we ran back to our hotel. Ever since that day while watching runners and the city of Boston overcome the bombings, I decided I wanted to run the Boston Marathon. In 2014, my husband and I returned as an engaged couple. He ran the Boston Marathon for the first time and had an amazing experience. Ten years later, he is my biggest supporter encouraging me to live my dream of crossing the finish line on Boylston Street and finishing the 2023 Boston Marathon.

Back when I was in high school I would avoid running (I even had a doctor’s note to excuse me from the one mile run); I never understood how people could run for fun. About twelve years ago, I started very slowly running. Now running is my peaceful time that I need. I feel like I am a more patient mother on the days I run. I am not the fastest runner, but I truly enjoy it especially when I am able to complete things I did not always believe I could.

Lastly, I am a life long Bills fan and loved when Doug Flutie played for the Buffalo Bills. I still do not understand why he was benched for Rob Johnson against the Tennessee Titans. I remember eating and saving a box of Flutie Flakes. I no longer live in Buffalo, but I watch Josh Allen and the Bills weekly. Go Bills!

The Flutie Foundation's mission is to help people and families affected by autism live life to the fullest. They are able to do this through our programs and activities that improve the quality of everyday life for people and families affected by autism along seven key dimensions that are critical to living each day fully. They aim to provide a path for education and/or employment during the day; opportunities for physical and social activity outside of work/school; and the tools to be safe, supported, and informed at all times. Thank you for reading my page and considering a donation toward this amazing organization.
