I would not classify myself and a runner. Although I have done many races from 5K to 1/2 marathons. I am a forward momentum "runner" that just wants to finish and finish strong. I enjoy the Run Disney races because they are interactive, fun and of course Disney themed. I love a good theme with a costume!!
To me, it isn't about how fast I can finish, but that I am out being active and completing a race. Ok, the medals don't hurt either ;-)
Running for a Cause
When I was shut out of Marathon Weekend race registration this year due to overwhelming demand, I was truly bummed. But later on I realized this was for a reason. It gave me the opportunity to look for a charity I could run for that meant something to me. It is easly just to spend the money to register, but I was happy to be able to now have a purpose and charity to support.
I have run with a charity in the past and found it very rewarding. So very much looking forward to doing it again. I hope to surpase my goal and raise as much as I can for the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism.
This is a cause dear to my heart. I know several children with some form of Autism. This foundation helps not only raise awareness, but provides resources to families in many different ways. My favorite part is the programs this orginization creates for people with Autism. Ones where they can have fun, learn and enjoy themselves in a safe space.
I hope you will consider donating to this great charity!!!
