We are back again for our second year to fundraise for the Down syndrome walk 2023 with "pipers posse" that will be taking place on June 17th!
Piper is our fiesty little one year old with bright blue eyes, red hair and a smile that can light up an entire room. She has brought us so much joy and taught us so much over the past year and impresses us each and every day with how quickly she picks up on new things and how her curiosity does not allow her to miss a single beat. She loves dancing in your arms, banging her toys to a beat, jumping all around in her jumper, clapping at any opportunity and absolutely loves hearing you laugh. She lights up whenever she's around other babies and children, and also whenever any type of food is offered to her, just like her mama - she is also like her mama when it comes to bedtime as she suffers from FOMO (fear of missing out) and absolutely will not go down without reading a couple of books first! She is a very vocal little girl and babbles away through her days with lots of "mamama" "dadada" and "bababas" as well as the occasional "hiiiiii" and attempt to say "bbb"ye as she's waving (a new favourite) along with random funky noises that sometimes sound like they're coming from a seagull haha!
To be honest, most days we forget that piper is different because she has an extra chromosome, but different is beautiful and she has opened our eyes and our minds so much more than they were before she came along. We are so lucky that she is ours!
Last year we were able to raise more than $4500 which placed us as the top fundraising in the entire country - this still blows my mind a year later, but also reminds us of how fortunate we are to be surrounded by so much generosity, love and support in our small little communities.
Any generous donation made this year will support the Canadian Down syndrome society and their many projects which include inployable, here I am and MinDSets to name a few, all of which will help make our world more inclusive, informed and accessible for our little girl Piper!
