On February 23, 2019, I am running with Team Girl Power 2 Cure during the Disney Princess Half Marathon for the fourth time! This year, I will be running the Enchanted 10K through EPCOT. Later the same day, Christopher will be running the 200 meter dash in honor of his sister, and Allison will be completing the mile run with my assistance!

Team GP2C is raising money to support Rett Syndrome research, a rare neurological disorder that can cause the symptoms of autism, cerebral palsy, anxiety disorders, and seizure disorders, all in one little girl. I am running in honor of my daughter, Allison, who was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome when she was 2 years old.

I started running to prove to myself that things I thought were impossible could become possible with enough hard work. A cure for Rett Syndrome IS possible- we just need the hard work by amazing researchers to make it happen. My inspiration is my beautiful daughter, and all of the other girls that we have met who have Rett Syndrome. Girl Power 2 Cure has been such an amazing source of support and inspiration for Allison and I on our Rett Syndrome journey. We now have HOPE that Allison will one day benefit from a meaningful treatment or cure from this horrible diagnosis- and we want to help fund the research dollars that will get us there!

This is the 8th year that Team GP2C has participated in the Disney Princess Half Marathon Race Weekend. To date, they have raised more than $1.3 million for the Rett Syndrome Research Trust through the generous supporters and sponsors of their runners.
