I have joined Team Skylar P and GP2C in the efforts to raise money to find a cure for Rett Syndrome. I will be running 13.1 miles in the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February for Skylar. She is a beautiful 16-year-old girl who lives life to the fullest in the body God has chosen for her, but we want a CURE now she can live life to the fullest without the isolation of not being able to walk or talk, and her body free from seizures as well as the everyday struggles she encounters. 

I have known Charity, Skylar's mom, since she was a teenager. I remember the day she told me she was pregnant, the day Skylar was born, and the day she was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome. Receiving the news that there is something wrong with your child can be devastating. You wonder what life will be like and how you can possibly go on. You wonder if you will be able to provide for her and all of her needs. You wonder why God has chosen this path for your child. The worries are endless. Skylar cannot walk or talk so she uses a wheelchair to get around and technology as her voice. She lives with many symptoms of Rett Syndrome but always has a beautiful smile on her face that lights up any room that she is in. She has fought the odds and has the same hopes, wants, and dreams of any girl her age.
