Please join me in supporting Girl Power 2 Cure and their mission to raise critical funds for Rett Syndrome research. This marks the fourth year that Amy Cole and I proudly train and run as part of Team Charlie, in honor of our beautiful 9-year-old friend, Charlie, she is living with Rett Syndrome.

We run for Charlie. We run for the English family. And we run for every family courageously navigating life with Rett. These caregivers show extraordinary strength and devotion every day, and they deserve our love, support, and action.

Rett Syndrome is a debilitating neurological disorder that primarily affects girls but can also affect boys. Caused by a single gene mutation that disrupts the production of an essential brain protein (MECP2), the disorder leads to a tragic loss of abilities—typically between the ages of 1 and 3. Children are born seemingly healthy, but many lose the ability to speak, walk, or use their hands, and rely entirely on caregivers for daily life. 

Yet, amidst these challenges, there is resilience. Despite severe physical limitations, individuals with Rett Syndrome often maintain cognitive abilities similar to their peers. They are bright, brave, and hopeful—waiting for a cure that science tells us is possible.

Today, there is no cure. But Rett Syndrome is potentially CURABLE! Mouse and primate experimental treatments have proven that once MECP2 protein levels are restored to normal levels, symptoms subside. This gives us real hope—but we need your help to turn scientific progress into tangible outcomes.
