My Denver Women's Chorus Fundraising Page
As many of you know, singing is an important part of my life. Until recently, I sang with three different choruses/choirs, but dropped one due to my tendency to overcommit myself.
I have been singing with DWC since January of 2018. It has become an important community to me since my transition in 2017. As you can imagine, auditioning for a women's chorus as a transgender woman brings up many doubts and fears—at least for me it did—as to whether I would be able to sing in a treble chorus—and whether I would be welcomed and celebrated by the members. Fortunately, my fears in both instances were unfounded. I have expanded my vocal range sufficiently to sing Alto 2 with DWC, and just this year, I moved to the Alto section with Mile Hi Church choir.
DWC has welcomed me warmly and takes diversity and inclusion quite seriously, whether with gender expression or other marginalized communities.
Each member of the chorus has been asked to raise funds to support our mission of "building community through music," and I am inviting you to support me and DWC, if you feel so inspired. I chose the word "inspired" carefully, because if this doesn't inspire you, please don't feel any obligation to contribute. If it does inspire you, I would be honored to include you among the supporters of DWC.
